Adolf Schmidt for White House Farmer

Though I have been crafting away--I just have to get photos taken so I can share, I also have some fun news that needs your help. If you visit, http://whitehousefarmer.com/?p=220 You'll see a description of my father as a farmer/gardener. We'd love it if you would vote for him on that site. He has made such a wonderful connection with our children and his nieces and nephews through showing them how to grow and eat an amazing variety of organic foods. I love his berries and tomatoes best. If you have a moment and would send a vote my father's way, I thank you.

So I began my Project Improv by trying out my orange/pink block for the charity quilt and I like it. I'll continue with something else, but am really feeling the freedom. I have a couple of tops to get attached and show. . . I'll share my first quilting efforts very soon. I know I'm not ready to machine stipple anything. Somewhere I read that it takes 20 hours of practice to do it well (and perhaps 20 bobbins). I'll add a photo of my improv block this weekend.

Time to Stretch

Some of you have been very encouraging about quilting. I've only ever made a nine-patch baby quilt, so this will really be a fun experience. I'm a follow the pattern kind of girl and am really looking forward to seeing what comes out of my improvisation.

The bous of the project is that participants will also make a block for charity. We get to play together and help others, too. I know I'm going to learn so much and get to see some really beautiful work. If you want to play, too, just click on the photo to link to the sign-up page.
